How much does a WordPress website cost in 2026
What goes into the price of a WordPress site, from a landing page to an online store. Starting prices in dollars, timelines and costs after launch.
Short answer: a WordPress website in 2026 costs anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. The range is wide because "a WordPress site" can mean a stock theme with your logo dropped in, or an online store with integrations built from scratch. Below I break down what you actually pay for and share the starting prices I work with.
Starting prices by type of site
These are "from" prices for development on a custom WordPress theme. The exact figure is always calculated after we discuss the project.
- Landing page: from $450, 1 to 2 weeks. A single page built around one goal: a product, a service or lead capture.
- Business website: from $900, 2 to 4 weeks. A multi-page site of up to 6-8 pages with an admin panel where you edit texts and images yourself.
- WooCommerce online store: from $1800, from 4 weeks. Catalog, cart, payments and shipping.
What each option includes is described on the landing page, business website and online store service pages.
Why prices vary so much
You will find offers for $100 and for $10,000. The difference is usually not greed, it is how the site is built.
Stock theme
You buy a ready-made theme and your texts and logo go into it. This is the cheapest and fastest option. The downsides: the site looks like hundreds of others, and the theme ships with a lot of unused code and plugins, so it loads slower. Changing the design beyond what the theme allows is hard.
Page builder
The site is assembled in a visual builder such as Elementor. It is fast, and edits can be made with a mouse. The downsides are the same: heavy pages and dependence on a paid plugin.
Custom theme
The theme is written from scratch for your design. It costs more up front, but there is no unused code, the site is faster, and the admin panel is shaped around your content: you edit only the fields you need and cannot accidentally break the layout. This is how I work.
What the price is made of
- Design. If you have a ready design, I build from it. If not, I bring in a designer I work with, and the design is priced separately.
- Number of unique templates. What matters is not how many pages there are, but how many of them are different. Ten similar service pages share one template, while the home, about and contact pages are three separate templates.
- Functionality. Forms, catalog filters, user accounts, multiple languages, calculators. Each of these is a separate piece of work.
- Integrations. Payment systems, shipping, CRM, email marketing. Working with third-party services often takes longer than it seems.
- Content. Who prepares the texts and photos and who fills the site with them. If that is on me, both the timeline and the price grow.
- Timeline. A rush project means other work gets pushed back. A flexible timeline is usually cheaper.
Costs after launch
Development is a one-time payment, but a website also has recurring costs:
- Domain. Renewed once a year, the price depends on the zone (.com, .net and others).
- Hosting. A small WordPress site usually runs fine on an inexpensive plan, a store with a large catalog needs something more powerful.
- Paid plugins. Some plugins are sold as yearly licenses. It is worth knowing which ones your site needs before work starts.
- Maintenance. WordPress and plugin updates, backups, small edits. You can handle it yourself or agree on ongoing support.
What to prepare for an accurate quote
The more information at the start, the more accurate the price and the fewer surprises later:
- why you need the site and what a visitor should do: call, send a request, buy;
- 2-3 sites you like and what exactly you like about them;
- a rough list of pages;
- whether you have a design, a logo, brand colors;
- whether texts and photos are ready;
- your preferred timeline and budget.
With this list you can fill in the brief on the home page right away. I will reply within one business day with a price and timeline for your project.
